This week-end Fosdem ’10 took place. This is the Free and Open Source Software Developers’ European Meeting, which happens every year at the Université Libre de Bruxelles here in Belgium. This was the 10th time the event was taking place, and it was attended by more than 5000 visitors.
Our team was of course present at this event which is very important for the open source community. We gave two talks in the Ruby+Rails Developer Room:
- Marc presented A rubyist’s naive comparison of some database systems and toolkits. With the advent of new and alternative data storage options in the Rails community, a summarized and up-to-date comparison of all the current solutions was deemed necessary. [Slides]
- I presented 25 real life tips in Ruby on Rails development which is a compilation of the best practices I have found during these past years of working on professional web applications with the Ruby on Rails framework. The presentation does not go into too much detail as a lot of aspects are involved but it should give you a good overview. [Slides]
